City Library One year Old.(fThe City Library is just one year j old today (Friday), it having been ^ started by the ladies of the eity one i year ago. f jOne year ago the library wan lt;»r* 1 tablInh«(1 without any endowment- or 1 j without any materials of any kind j except the determination of the Wo* 1 man's Club of the lt;*ity to provide ; J wholesome reading matter for tbe j hoys and girls, and the men and women of the city. Today while it's growth has not been phenominal yet it lias been remarkable in view of the disadvantages under which it has labored an I as a reult the Citv♦Library now has about 6(H) volums of the best books on the market jmd contains an Encyloprdia of HI vol-umns that is probably the largest I and best in the city.- This lias been j accomplished during the year be- 1 sides providing for the furnishing of the room and paying the rent and other expenses of maintainanee. The value of the books and equipment is near $1 *000.00 all of which has been raised through the efforts of the | ^ ladies. The membership of the lib-rary club is now about (o and is still ; | growing. IWe are of the opinion that the Public Library is one of the best institutions that the city ha« and we believe that all are proud of the record that has been made during the year and all expect greater things for this institution during the year to come than have been accomplished during the year just ended.The efforts of the ladies is to be commended and we believe that*every person should take a personal interest in this institution, and do all possible to build it up and assist it in occupying a still greater field of usefulness.(]tffIIIl!
