CONFEDERATE WIDOWS.And Something About the Law That Pensions Th* m.Section 1. Be it enacted by the 1 General Assembly of the State of Georgia: To the widow of every Confederate soldier now residing in the State of Georgia, and so i long as she may continue to bo re-jsidc, there shall be paid annually, ! beginning on the 15th. day of February, 1891, a pension of .$100, pro-, vided that this act shall Only apply to such widows as were married at the time of the service of such husband in the Confederate army, and have remained unmarried since ‘ • the death of such soldier husband Provided, further, that the said soldier husband shall have died in the' i service of the Confederate States,i or since from wounds received d; therein, or disease contracted in' the service.• fSee. 2. Be it further enacted by .?| .: the authority aforesaid, That eachi applicant for the benefits of thisI act shall furnish the evidence of* 1 the enlistment and service of herhusband in the Confederate army.or the .State forces, during thewar, and that his death, whether it* resulted during or since the war.11; was directly the results of the ser-1 vice; but if any soldier husband so i enlisted did not return after the s ; close of the war. and nothing has been heard of him since, evidence of these facts shall be conclusive as to bis death. The evidence shall be made by witnesses, not less than three, and in conformity with the rules and forms to be prescribed by the Governor.—Each applicant must also furnish the certificate of the Ordinary of the county wherein she resides, show-'•, ing her residence, and that sue* re-|• sided in Georgia at the date of the i approval «»f this act.* j See. 3. Be B further enacted. That the sum ncccessary to the payments provided by this act, is hereby appropriate 1 out of ahy money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated.Sec. 4. Be it further enacted, That the entire fees and charges of the Ordinary shall not exceed $1 for any and all service rendered. See. 5. Repeals conflicting laws.
