Ida Rixen, 88Ida Rixen. the daughter of Herman and Minnie Maincn Scheel was bom Jan 9, 1897 on a farm in Fairview twp, Shelby co. She died at the Myrtue Memorial hospital in Harlan on Friday, Dei 13 1985, having attained the age of 88 years, 11 months and 4daysShe attended country school at Fairview twp school No. 9. She lived with her grandmother and aunt for a short time, and raised her three brothers, due to her ownOn March 16,1921, she married Arthur Rixen at Harlan Three children were bom to this union After they were married, they made their home in Pender, Ne., for a short time, before returning to Harlan, where he served as Shelby County Treasurer She continued to make her home m Harlan, after her husbands death on July 3,1944She assisted at the birth of all of her nieces and nephews She worked at the Bisgard hospital and also for Dr Carl Bisgard She also worked for a short tune at Myrtue Memorial hospital, and then became employed at the Baptist Memorial Home full time from 1952 to 1962. and part tune from 1962 to 1972 She became a resident of the Baptist Memorial Home in 1973, and this had been her home since that time She was baptized in the Congregational church and has been a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Haraln for many yearsIn addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Walter, Julius and William She is survived by two sons Glen of Harlan and Walter of Gnnnell; one daughter Dorothy (Mrs Gene) Obrecht of Lincoln. Ne.; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relativesFuneral services were held Monday. Dec 16, 1985 at the Congregational United lt;hureh of Christ in Harlan with Pastor Dennis Brayman officiating Burial was in the Harlan cemetery with Arnold Scheel, Dwain Boeck, Frank i Rusty) Wirth. Robert Schcel, Richard Scheel and l^onard Scheel all serving as casketbearersPauley Funeral Home handled the arrangements
