PAW PAW, W. Va. (UPI) — The suspected killer of two West Virginia state troopers who had been the ob ject of a two-day manhunt through snow-covered, rugged terrain along the Potomac River, was found shot through the heart Friday and police ; he was an apparent suicide vic- The body of Larry Parker, 29, was found inside a small cave under a frozen waterfall about one mile west of Paw Paw, where he allegedly gunn ed down the two troopers, A.D. Her cules and Charles H. Johnson, when they served a warrant on him last Wednesday. Parker apparently shot himself with his high-power hunting rifle as West Virginia and Maryland State Police, aided by three tracking dogs, pushed their quarry to a hiding place behind a waterfall, known as ‘Big Niagara,’ at the foot of Shanty Hollow. West Virginia Troopers G. A. Stevens and Roy Wingler were standing atop the waterfall when they heard a shot. Cpl. Fred Yeager of the Maryland State Police sent an attack dog into the cave. Yeager then went inside. He said he found Parker on his back, his rifle next to his body. The body was taken to a Cumberland, Md., hospital. “I’m glad it’s all over, but I can’t od I was happy because this won’t bring Hercules and Johnson back,’ Stevens said. When a voice disclosed over the police radio in the command post at the Paw Paw Fire Hall that the manhunt had ended, a cheer erupted from weary officers who had been following the final minutes of the chase via radio. With a wet snow falling, Stevens, accompanied by a Maryland State Police canine unit, pursued Parker into a hilly area near the Potomac River, which separates Maryland and West Virginia. “They had been chasing him for at least four hours and got close enough to hear the gunshot and see smoke from the gun,’’ said West Virginia State Police Capt. C. M. White, com mander of Company ‘‘C”’ at Elkins. The fugitive had been using his rifle as a cane, according to White. This aided in tracking Parker since his footprints and gun butt imprint were visible in the new snow
