JL, 1904.Sister Chatham was one of the oldest women of this section of the country and perhaps the entire parish. She was born Feb. 10, 1821, in the state of Mississippi; married to Mr. Elijah J Chatham January 28,1841; moved thence to Louisana in thq year 1850. She Joined the Methodist church when fiifqut 17 years of age. She wis left a widow when about 45 years of age with a family of children to care for. Some of them preceded her to the grave and the others were rearedjn the best circles of sociefcjfand were all taught to earn the bread they ate.It was the pleasure of this writer to form her acquaintance about two years ago and very soon learned to love her as a mother and friend. She always had something cheerful to say A good, substantial living was the height of her ambition. She did not crave to be rich, but always to have plenty, and I am glad to say the Lord graciously blessed her and gave her the desires of her heart on that line.Though she lived above her four score years, she was remarkably strong and active lor a woman of her age, having escaped measles all through her long life, bat nt this late day contracted the disease and passed away as do well nigh all others of her age. While Sister Chatham was not an outspoken Christian as some people are, yet we hope and expect to meet in the rerarretkm of the just. She said nothing about her future state, but seemed to be resigned to the will of the Lord. It was the pleasure of this writer to visit her while she was dek and talked and prayed with her, but she expressed no desire to get well.Jan. M. Giista WWWAfter next election Winn parish will have practically an entirely new set of police Jurors and it is hoped they will at lent discuss the matter of better public roads and bridges.TltfceefahurelhopedwtOTttSIflatti6yiMi sick aroui Mt slow! oven ham, famil the years Mf cent! part famil Th M.
