Game Warden After Savery.“I)es Moines, Jan. 14.—W. In. Jordan, of the law firm of Jordan Irish, has been retained to prosecute the manage- j xricnfc of the Savery hotel for the alleg- j «d illegal serving of 400 quail at the j banquet to Secretary Shaw at the Sav-( cry last Thursday evening, given in j honor of the new secretary of the troas- j tiry by the Grant club. It is stated that j an information will be filed against j Manager W. L. Brown, charging that; 400 quail.were served there that night, the Information to be filed, as an of-1 ficial act, by George A. Lincoln, fish j and game warden, or one of his as- j eistants, James E. Stout or Carl Quim-! by. Should the allegations that 4001 quail were served at the Shaw banquet j be proven the management is liable to a fine of $8,000, which it is not in the , provineee of any court in the state to j lessen by one cent. The only relief there is under the law lies with Governor Shaw himself who can. commute the sentence to a nominal sum or utterly wipe it out. The governor would therefore be placed in the peculiar position of being called upon to commute a sentence pronounced against the caterer wrho supplied the delicacies for a banquet given in honor of the governor himself.t!:
