Ohrinj, 8«.» on Ai 8th of January, 1840, at 6 o’clock, P.M. and organized byelecting WM; HERRUN, Chairman, and Uno*-«aDon ham, Secretary ; and* on motion, the meeting vfas opened by the Chairman deli rering an address appropriate to the occasion, alter which the following resolutions were Adopted without a dissentient voice, and the committed and delegates unanimously elected :Resolved, That a Committee of three members be elected to nominate five delegates lo attend the Clay County Democratic Republican Convention, to be hold iu the Town of Bowlipg Gfeen, on the first Monday of March next, at 12 o’clock, 91., for thepurpose of nominating suitable persons as candidates tor the several State and County offices to be filled at the next August election, and to be supported by the Democratic Republican citizens of Clay County, with power to fill any vacancy tbat may occur in their body, and also, if necessary, to increase their number, provided any other township shall elect or appoint more than five delegates to said Convention, so that Perry township shall have an equal delegation with any of the other townships in said Convention.Whereupon, John Hixon, Sen., Win, Christy, Sen., and John Donham were elected said Committee, who retired a few minutes, and, on returning, reported, is delegates to attend said Convention, Thomas West, Et=q., George Donharn, Elijah Reece, Abijah Donham and Isaac Reece, who were, on motion, unanimously elected said delegates, with the power granted in the above resolution in accordance with the will and instructions of their fellow-citizens.Resolved, That the proceedings of this meeting be signed by the Chairman and Secretary, and a copy of the same be sent to the Editors of the Wabash Enquirer, requesting the publication of the same in their piper.On motion the meeting adjourned.
