by Ann Lupkowski The Blossburg Volunteer Fire De partment and Ambulance Associa tion held their annual banquet at the Hillside Rod and Gun Club on Jan uary 10th. The Master of Ceremonies was Gene Drinkwine, Fire Depart ment President Dale Randise of fered the invocation Guests from neighboring fire and ambulance companies were: Chief and Mrs John Dugan of Wellsboro, Chief and Mrs Joe Thompson and Ron Hagar of Mansfield, and Chief and Mrs Roy Reed and Terry Kreger of Liberty Other guests were Trooper Clifford Simonds (Fire Marshal), Dr and Mrs Dell Kim, Dr. and Mrs Curtis Swagler and Steve Schapfer. A certificate of appreciation was presented to Robert Scheerer, Chief of the Ambulance Association, in grateful recognition and apprecia ion of his faithful and exceptional service and leadership to the Ambu lance Association Dean Hall, President of the Ambu lance Association, presented certif icates to the ten members who made the most ambulance responses in 1980 They are: Tina Brazda, 212 re sponses, Robert Scheerer, 92, Ray mond Frederick, 92, Eugene Drink wine, 81, Richard Stanley, 80, David Perry, 77, Ken Johnson, 70, Harold Franke, 70, Kevin Lindquist, 64 and John Backman, 53 Ray Frederick was presented with a special Stork Award” for the first baby delivered by Blossburg Ambu lance personnel in the history of the Association Bob Scheerer, Ambulance Chief, recognized the committee that was responsible for raising the funds for the Jaws of Life (cost $7,379) and the rescue truck (cost $10,000) Kevin Lindquist, Chairman, Gene Drink wine, Dean Hall, Rick Stanley and Ken Johnson raised over $13,000 Dr Curtis Swagler discussed the new program. Advanced life support for Rural Communities (ARC) This program was initiated by Dr Bruce Bilder Volunteer physicians assist ambulance personnel with life or death situations The doctors carry special life support equipment and two-way radios in their cars so they can be easily reached Dr Swagler also stressed the importance of train ing people in each household in Basic Life Support (CPR) Officers and Members of the Bloss burg Fire Department Auxiliary were honored They are President Lisa Lindquist, Vice President Chris Randise, Secretary Kaye Brown Treasurer Carolyn Drinkwine Sergeant-at-Arms Betty Johnson Landa Cious and Adeline Cunning ham The 1980 Fire Department officers were President Dale Randise, Vice President Anthony Lupkowski Treasurer Dean Hall, Secretary Dave Perry, Trustee Lou Auld, Chief Lyle Cloos, First Assistant Chief Ray Frederick, Second Assistant Chief Rick Stanley and Chief of Fire Police Bob Scheerer The 1980 Blossburg Ambulance As sociation officers were President Dean Hall, Vice President 8111 Krause, Treasurer Gene Drinkwine Secretary Ken Johnson Chief Bob Scheerer, Assistant Chief Kevin Lindquist and Ambulance Captains Dave Perry Rick Stanley and Gene Drinkwine Steve Schapfer, Training Officer for the Lycoming County Emergency Medical Services, spoke on the coop eration between the paramedics of Lycoming County and the ambulance personnel of Tioga County He also showed the movie “Life or Death” which stressed the qualities of a pro fessionally operated ambulance ser vice The 1981 officers of the Blossburg Fire Department are Chief Ray DALE RANDISE, 1980 president of the Blossburg Fire Department (right) presents Dean Hall 1981 president. with the Department gavel photo by Ann Lupkowski
