*1 1IThere was a sensational escape from the military detention camp at Trei tham on Wednesday night by four military prisoners—John Larkin, Robert Ernest Larkin, Alexander ' Arthur Walker and George Henry Ilolleyman. IProm what can be gathered, the four men suddenly attacked the guard, whom they overpowered. They then gagged them, and got completely away. The .police authorities were notified, ami a sharp- logk-out kept, but so far there is no tidings of the escapees. The guard is stated to have 'been badly mauled. The Larkin brothers stowed away a few weeks ago in the bunkers of a steamer which was leaviijg for Sydney. On their arrival there they were not permitted to land,; but were brought back to^ew Zealand and sentenced to a month's imprisonment for leaving the (Dominion without a permit. On the expiry of the•sentence a few days ago they Vcro handed over to the military authorities, who transferred them to Trentham.r*
