The following is the Brazil Times’ account of the accident, Thursday afternoon: “Reports from the Indianapplis hospital, where Elsie Baker, the 12- year-old Carbon girl who was acci dentally shot by Orville Butts, a 9- year-old boy, Tuesday night, say that she has some chance for recovery. An X-ray machine is being used to locate the bullet which could not be found yesterday and the girl will be operated upon today. “While it is known that the shoot ing was accidental it is reported that the boy and older brother were in the habit of carrying revolvers and during the same day were recklessly shooting about the Big Four depot. An investigation of the report of small boys carrying weapons at Car bon will likely be made by the town marshal. “The Baker girl was hot in front of a moving picture theatre. The Butts boy, who is a son of David Butts, proprietor of the show, point ed the gun at the girl to frighten her. He did not know it was loaded. The bullet entered her brain at the top of her nose tearing a bad hole therein. It is said that if she lives she will likely lose the sight of one eye or it will remain badly crossed. “The Butts boy is suffering mental agony over the incident which was due to boyish carelessness.”’
