REPORTS OF RETIRING OFFICERS FILED TODAY.NEW BOARD APPROVESMuch in the Way of Improving Plants and Service Was Done During the Past Year—Much Service Furnished Free.The first regular meeting of the new boar a of public works was heid this morning. The reports of the outgoing officials were received for the past year ana approved. J. c. Sullivan, clerk of the water works department, submitted his report, wnich shows that the collections for the year amounted to $33,033.00. The total disbursements mere ft9,€26.40, besides $10,000, which was transferred to the sinking fund September 13, 1909, by order of the council, and this subtracted from tne total earnings, leaves a surplus of *3,406.60, wnich the plant earned during the year. The report in detail, is as tollows:Receipt*—Water rents, $31,615.33; permits, $6oo; sprinkling, $675.66, and miscellaneous collections. $141.81, making a total of $33,0,i3 collected.Disbursements—Extension of mains, $6,231.81; mains and hydrant repairs, $172.53; race and dam repairs, $305; salaries, $7,128; miscellaneous, $178.03; pump-house maintenance. $3,982.36; services, $1,276 47; street repairs, $70.-40; service repairs, $130.90, and horse zoard. $150, making tue total disbursements $19,626.40.Water furnished free to the city amounted to the following saving to the city; High school building. $69; Lincoln scnool, $170; Longtellow, $82; Franklin, $147; Washington, $120; Daniel Webster, $78; Tipton, $60; Columbia, $70; engine house No. 2, $15.-50; engine house No. 3, $14.50; engine hoi se No. 4, $19.50; engine house No. 5, $16.7i; electric light house, $1,617.-75; library, $46 10; city hall, $34; three public water troughs, $172; three automatic flushers, $172.50; St. Joseph hospital, $71; Home for the Friendless, $30; Riverside park fountain and sprinkling. $160; Court park fountain and sprinkling, $100; 216 fire hydrants at $45 per hydrant, $9,720 and flushing sewers, $3,714, making a total of $16,726.60 worth of water used by the city and public institutions during the year.
