Died Friday at His Son’s Home. Had Been Sick For Several Weeks, and Had Lived in Harrison Town ship Nearly All His Life. Friday’s Daily. Dr. Mark Harrison Ragsdale died at the home of his son Frank A. Ragsdale, West Van Trees street, this morning at 4:40 o’clock after several weeks’ illness of pleuro-pneumonia, during which the deceased suffered much. The doctor was taken ill shortly after the death of his little grandson at the same home a few weeks ago, and he constantly grew worse until death ended his sufferings. Doctor Ragsdale was born near Glendale, Morrison township, this county, August 25, 1836, and resided there most of his life, having come to this city only a short time ago. In February, 1866, he was united in marriage to Miss Harriet Chappell, a daughter of Ellett Chappell, who sur vives him. Two children, both living, were born to this union—Frank A. and Miss Sara Ragsdale, both living in this city. The deceased had been a granc ing physician since 1875, being a graduate of the Indiana Medical col lege; he was also a civil war veteran having served in company 1, 44th Indi ana volunteers, and belonged to the El nora Grand Army post. He was a con sistent member of the Methodist church and while a democrat in politics most of his life the last few years he identi fied himself with the prohibition party in national politics. Dr. Ragsdale was a man of splendid parts, a good citizen and one who had the respect of all. The world is better for his having lived and the memory of him will remain fresh in the minds and hearts of his many friends. The funeral will take place at Ebene zer church, Harrison township, Sunday morning at 11 o’clock; burial in the churchyard.
