Two rinks from Binscarth, skipped by Messrs. Alex. Crerar and John Sproat respec tively, came up on Thursday night’s train to engage in friendly rivalry with the Russell curlers at the roaring game. Play was started at 9 p. m., Crerar of Binscarth versus Soper of Russell, and Sproat of Binscarth versus Callin of Russell taking the ice. Both games were evenly contested and hard fought, the last stone telling the tale in each case. Russell just managed to get there by one point, the scores at the 12th end reading Crerar 7, Super 8, Sproat 7, Callin 8. After the first games were finished, those who had played adjourned to the Queen’s, where a nice supper had been provided. After everyone had appeased their hunger and quenched their thirst, the chair man, Mr. Peter Hyde (who at all times makes an efficient chairman,) made a neat little speech welcoming the visitors, and after the healths of both clubs had been drunk, the company dispersed and went back to the rink, when the Binscarth skips tried their skill against skips Dr. Wright and G. P. Baker of Russell, the games ending at 3 a. m. with the following results:—Crerar 4; Dr. Wright 19; Sproat 12; Baker 18. Good curling was wit nessed, and a very enjoyable evening was spent by all. Some of the Binscarth boys were heard to say, ‘**Wait till the Russell curlers come to Binscarth.
