TENNESSEE STATE NEWSA Mining Fmud*The newly found Klondike in the western hills of Obion county has been brought to an abrupt close by the arrest of one C. C. Moore, alias Charles F. Ay cock, of Boone county. Ark. The fact, or at least what was thought to be facts, concerning the finding of gold in that county has been heralded to the world through the newspapers, and the public is acquainted with the facts, as a great deal of interest was manifested by the best citizens of that portion of the county and a great deal of money expended to develop the supposed gold fields. However, last week Aycock was arrested by Deputy E. 8. Tatom on Reel foot lake on a charge of forgery and embezzlement. When arrested he was playing the role of an expert miner and he had worked up quite a friendship with many of that locality, on account of his good behavior. Aycock was a member of the Odd Fellows and Masonic orders, and this fact being established and his four months* residence there entitled him to the respect he had received. Soon after his arrival he and a few friends began to get options on large tracts of lands, and then gold finds would follow, he always receiving half the advance in the land, and thus a number of good men were scooped for a neat sum of money. But the charges upon which Aycock was arrested were preferred against him by the State of Arkansas, and he had evaded the officers quite awhile before he was finally located. Aycock had been the treasurer of Boone county, Ark., and had embezzled $8,200 of its school money and had robbed bis bondsmen, who was his father-in-law, of $2,500. However, before these facts developed A3feock skipped the country and was not heard of until his arrest was made. The governor of Arkansas offered a reward of $350 for the prisoner. When arrested he had on his person $240.
