Donald Barr, headmaster of New York’s Dalton School and author of the current bestseller, ‘‘Who Pushed Humpty Dumpty”’ is speaking Thursday, January 13 at the Wilton Congregational Church, Wilton, at 11 a.m. The 4th Congressional District Republican Women’s Association is sponsoring the talk and the pub lic is invited. There is no charge and luncheon will be served im mediately following the talk. Mr. Barr is a popular guest on radio and TV talk shows, and is the author of several children’s books on mathematics, atomic energy, buildings, and primitive man. He is a former professor at Columbia University and association program director at the National Science Foundation. He has won a reputation as a foe of permissiveness in and out of the classroom. He agrees that today’s schools are in crisis, accusing them of ‘‘sedulously crushing the life out of marvelous little kids,” and he places the blame on those ‘‘progressive educators’’ who have argued that the child can teach himself.
