FIFTY YEARS AGO TODAY E. B. Clark of Pratt is registered at the Arl ington being here on business. Engineer Nick Diltz brought his engine in from Englewood today for repairs. Mrs. C. E. Elliott has returned from a visit in Wichita. Mrs. J. B. Gibson of Kingfisher, sister of E. G. Paradis, who has been visiting him, left for Iowa today. Cristof Wichita and Mrs. Prewitt of Liberal. Verne T. Newton, third district chairman of Boy Scouts, who has recently been elected chair man for the 1957 National Jamboree, received the Silver Beaver scouting award at the annual meeting of the Quivern Council, Boy Scouts of America, held Thursday evening at the Broad view hotel in Wichita. Mrs. D. E. Becker and her daughter, Mrs Neil Frank, spent Tuesday in Winfield visiting friends. TWENTY YEARS AGO TODAY Misses LaVerne Klewene, Elizabeth Tolbert, Gertrude Butler and Ruth Laird will go to Wichita tonight to attend the Ice Follies. Mrs. Harry Stayton and daughter Dorothy were in Wellington visiting yesterday. Mr. and Mrs. J. Harris Carr left this morning for Kansas City, Mo., accompanied by their daughter, Mrs. Richard L. Noonan. There are many people home ill with influ enza. FIVE YEARS AGO TODAY Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Gasper and children, Stevie and Sally of Lawrence, were weekend guests of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Gasper and Mrs. A. L. Wolford.
