“tVinten, (fyvutiueil HotelFACE-OFF!!The cheerful rattle of hockey sticks has been added to the click of skates on the Pinedale rink, as of last week. The Pinedale Hockey Club, instigated by Monte Wight, is promoting a game with the Jackson Hockey Club during Cutter Race Weekend. Wight and Johnnie Poljanec bought a dozen sticks fdr the team to use, and while the team is otherwise occupied,-the Sticks'are in constant use by the younger generation of skaters. The sticks and pucks are kept in Foljanec’s Sinclair service station across the street from the rink.Side boards for the rink are under construction, with interested labor for free and weiner edge material paid for by the Town Council, up to $100-worth.Candidates for the local team include, as of Sunday, Monte Wight, Wayne Feltner, Paul Ga-bardi, Buzz Burzlander, Paul Coughlin, Chet Hubbard, Kent Smith, Craig Crandall, Dennis Davison, ELmer Williams, Dick Hayes, Paul Ziegler, Buzz Fuller, Sonny Korfanta, Leonard Brakke, Art Whittall, John Mackey, Chas. Beattie, Fr. Charles Bartek, Wendell Grable, Phil Talmadge and Milt Seaman. Inasmuch as Hockey Club activities include carpentry, rink scraping and flooding, as well as skating and handling a hockey stick, ail are welcome and urged to join in♦MUSH!!The well-dressed dog around Pinedale these days is wearing a harness most of the time, if he is over Spaniel size. Often he is also pulling a sled, and making no response other than looking interested. Dog race prospects are varied and interesting, but there is no hot dope available as yet.♦AMONG THE CUTTER TEAMSPlenty new has been added to the speed and color of the cutter horses this year, but there will be many familiar equines on the track, come Feb. 5. Louie Warden has entered his fast “Khay” colt, the brown mare “Kate,” that he drove last year. She is teamed with her half brother ‘Comanche.” Another team of “Khay” colts, “Comino and the sorrel “Honey” will be driven by Harvey Atwood.Bill Bloom's “kickin’ horse,” the black with big-crooked-blaze face is now named “Nigger,” belongs to Morris. Horton, and is in training, Bay horaeof the Hit-tie's whose name is “Beggar”. Horton is the driver.E. J. Bing’s “Chalky” lt;who could forget “Chalky?”) will be very much on' hand, with a team mate that looks just like him. The mate is a 12-year-old stallion named “Whitey MeCue,” an AA Quarterhorse that Bing and Harvey Stone bought in partnership from Bill West in Afton. The cream-colored glass-eyed pair stay in step whenever they go out for a spin with Stone.Carl Worl’s team, Thoroughbreds with a dash of American Saddler, are ‘Vicky” and “Rusty.” They are already in superb shape and while Carl makes no rash statements, we think. that he thinks they can run just a little.Mary Lynn Worl has been driving her little black mare, “Twin-kie,” (who was part of Bud Shanley’s team last year) with bay “Tillie.” Patsy Hittle will help drive this team, m the Junior division.Sid Reynolds will drive the same half-Arabians that he had last year.Among the newcomers will be Betty Warden's roan team, that she describes as “just a couple lt;5f desert rats.”There is a conspiracy of silence in regard to the teams from Big Piney. We hear that Kenny Fear has entered the Junior Division with the little sorrel streaks of lightning that Joe Crisman drove in ’53. Sets of racing shoes have been going to Piney in quantities, but who is to wear them is a deep, dark secretDale Jensen and the RichiePffojswunteitriallFiiofallissclhepeidrveVI“PJaeviwiGiteideshlt;arlt;talbocotinfwidrieh;peiSVrwiDathfba;re*tioKrBaqu.atmiaronneiRe1beda;wethbo1Bofroth*
