KILLED!•ii ii —Wm Bostick StruckBy a Wild EngineAnd Hurled to His DeathGreat excitement was occasioned yesterday by a horrible ac cident at the crossing just opposite the depotWm. Bostick an aged man, attempted to cross £the tracks when an extra north bound pass enger engine running at a high 1 rate of s peed, struck and hurled him through the air a distance of over one hundred feet, dashing his brains out against some large cast iron boilers standing upon the depot platform, literally tearing the top of his head off and scattering his brains along the platform.The victim was hurled with terrific force, striking Chas. Welch and Joel Thomas, who were standing in front of the depot, knocking them down and I breaking Mr W’s. leg and other-i ^ * / Iwise injuring him. Mr Thomas es caned without serious iniurvJL. •/This is the most distressing accident in the history of Farm-ersburg.Mr. Bostick had but recently moved here. He leaves a wife and several children.The engine that struck him was runninsr extra and wasv__.*about three minutes ahead of the regular north bound passenger which is due here at 10:30 a . m.1It appears that as he stepped upon the track some one called to warn him of his peril, and he hesitated as if -to step back— that brief moment of indecision did the deadly work.The remains were removed tothe undertaKing rooms of W. L.I Wood, and an inquest held.
