DIED,With inflammation of the brain, on the 8th inst., Mrs. ALMIRA COOK, wife of Wat. L. Cook, at their residence li miles west of Davenport- She v as a pious, affectionate mother and wife, highly esteemed, but now much lamentedbv manv friends. At the time her family seem-. « *ed to need most her guardian care, her pious precepts and example, she was called to bid them a final adieu-—and leave a husband and five children (one of whom a babe) together with a large circle of friends, and the church in which she hag lived for years a consistent, exemplary member, to mourn ihcir loss, but to rejoice over her gain. For, though we mourn, it is with the consoling,; well-grounded hope, that she sweetly rests.from her labors, in Paradise with her Savior, whom she loved and served on earth. And now, while from her tomb is loudly spoken a solemn voice to aU her friends below, me-thinks to her bereaved family I hear her happy spirit whisper back, as upward on angel pinions it rides,“Weep not my friend-, my friends weep not for Allis well—all is well; [me,His providence now dark, you soon shall see, Order’d well—order’d well.Although a cloud doth now arise To hide your moral sun and skies,You soon shall see with sweet surprise,All was well—all was well.” W.
