Former ResidentMrS'Emma Gochenour Dies at Home in Wabash SundayMrs. Emma Gochenour, widow of the late Joseph Gochenour, passed away at her home, on the corner of Cass and Sinclair streets, Wabash, Sunday afternoon at two o’clock. Death came as a quiet sleep, the termination of a several months’ illness. The deceased has been an invalid almost her entire .life, and since the death of her husband in 1909 gradual decline followed until hey death Sunday.The deceased, formerly Miss Emma Wohlgamuth, the daughter of John and Nancy Howell Wohlgamuth,., was bom in this county on a farn ■ near Treaty, September 4th, 1851 and was one of three children. Here she lived with her parents, receiving her education. Soon after her man. riage to Joseph Gochenour March 23rd, 1871, they moved to another farm a few miles south of this city, and here they remained a few years until 1879, at which time they moved to Somerset. Here her husband opened a general store which he operated for some time with her as his assistant. In 1885 they moved to Roann and again opened a general store, and they remained here until 1907, with the exception of a short time when they lived in North Manchester. While in North Manchester Mr. Gochenour organized the State bank in that city. They moved to this city in 1907 and have lived here since.They took as their child Miss Harriet' Gochenour in 1874 and reared her. To her the deceased has been as a true mother and has always respected her and cared for h.er as any mother would.The deceased was widely known throughout the county, having lived in this county her entire life and made her home in several townships of the county, and was held in the highest esteem by all. She was especially known for her congeniality and close friendship. On account of her poor health during the past few years she has been deprived of many of the pleasures and joys of life that she could have enjoyed had she not been afflicted. She has been affiliated with the Christian church almost her entire life, having united with the Boundary Line Christian church south of this city at the age of fourteen. To this organization she has been very faithful and was always a good worker for the cause as long as her health permitted. During her life in this city she has made many friends and all regret to hear of her death. Her death will leave a vacncy in the community that wil! be heard to fill.She was also a member of the W. R. G. and was a charter member of the organization at Roann, which was organized in 1890.There remain to survive one sister, Mrs. A. C. Richards, of Treaty, and her son, a foster daughter, Mrs. Mark Mitten and her children, and hosts of friends overthe entire county.The funeral was held Tuesday at Wabash.
