FRANK GOTCH AND MISS GLADYS OESTRICH MARRIED WEDNESDAY.Undefeated Champion Adds Another Valuable Prize to Winnings and Retires to Private Lite.Frank Gotch and Miss Gladys Oestrich were married at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. R, F. Oestrich, in Humboldt, Wednesday, January 11. The fol-loing sketch regarding the careerof Frank Gotch was taken from the■ *Des Moines Evening Tribune: Humboldt has always been the home of Frank Gotch and Miss Oestrich, each being born and raised there. Evpr been to Humboldt? Frank Gotch says it is the biggest town for its size in the world.. It is certainly a pretty little place and perhaps the most beautiful thing about the village is the sentiment which exists among its citizens. The Humboldt folk are just like one big family. Strange as it may seem, there are no gossips. Everybody boosts .for everybody else. The merchants never knock one another to get business. This may sound funny to people familiar with city life, where it is everybody for himself and the deuce with the other fellow. It really is remarkable the way in which the Humboldt people stick together^ Gotch was 33 years old last April, while Miss 'Oestrich is just- turning 20. The champion wrestler is easily worth $250,000. Among other things he owns 1,200 acres of excellent Iowa farm land nearrHumboldt. He, has a beautiful home on the farm and another in town.Gotch has been an awfully busy man for the past ten years.' He has been constantly before the public during that time. He spent ten out of every twelve months yearly since becoming a professional wrestler traveling around the country meeting all comers. Chasing alfout the country wrestling nearly every night in the week keeps a man’s attention pretty well taken up with his work.- Gotch was too busy to bother with love affairs in those da$3, although a number of enterprising theatrical press agents wrote false stories about him being engaged to various show girls. These stories became so monotonous and aggravating’ that the king of wrestlers finally refused to give them the dignity of a denial.trii1311ff;rPublic Auction
