ESCAPE FROM' TRENTHAM CAMP v A-SENTRY BOUND AND GAGGED,Four prisoners in the military detention camp at Trcnthatu awaiting their trial on charges of desertion escaped oil Tuesday night. The names of tho men concerned are John Larkin, Robert Ernest Larkin, Alexander Arthur Walker, and George Henry Hoi ley man. About 10 o’clock atnight the men suddenly attacked, bound, and gagged the sentry..: The escapees arc officially described as follows •John Larkin.—Twenty-six years of age; height, oft. IHin.; of stout build, with broad, powerful shoulders; fresh complexion, dark hair, brown eyes; born in New Maud; labourer by occupation.Robert Ernest. Larkin—Twenty-two years of age; height, 6ft. lilt.; stout build; fresh complexion; dark liair; blue eyes; large nose; born in Now Zealand; labourer by occupation.Alexander Arthur Walker—Twenty-five years of ago; height, 5ft. 8Ji«.; medium complexion; brown hair, grey eyes; strong in build; born at Ma-taura. Southland; motor-driver by occupation; last address, Tnpanui, Otago.George Homy Holleyman—Twenty-six years of age; height, 5ft. 10in.; fresh complexion; dark brown hair3 hazel eyes : telegraph linesman by occupation ; last address, King Street, Dunedin,The Larkins, who. a re brothers, are both of powerful btiikl, and have already earned notoriety. . They will bn remembered as having stowed away a few weeks ago in the bunkers of a steamer leaving New Zealand. They were tried in the Magistrates Court, found guilty, and sentenced to 0110 month’s imprisonment with bard labour, and ordered tu ho handed over tlt;v the military ,'iuthnritivs cm the expiration of their sentence as deserters. The Larkins served their term, and were handed over some days ago to the camp authorities, who were arranging for theiv triai by districtcourt-martial.No news of the escapees was available last evening.
