Sergeant Peet, of the West End district, made a raid last night on a certain house situate off New Gower St.,,and there found sufficient to warrant him in making several arrests including the proprietor, his wife and a few strangers, who were visiting the place. . We regret to say that the charge against the owner and occu pier of the house is a more serious one than that of keeping a shebeen. Ever since the notorious Vivian dis closnre, the police have been unearth ing similar hotbeds of vice, and good ness knows how long we have had them in our midst. Latest:—=John and Elizabeth King, occupiers of, the above house were sentenced to three months'im prisonment each, without the option of a fine, by Judge Conroy this afternoon.
