She used her Elvis stamps for mailing. “The first day of issue with the cancel will be a thrill,’’ she said, for her collector friends. In Pleasant Prairie, Barbara Peterson, 9155 Cooper Road, was the first in line waiting for the sale to begin at 1:30 p.m. Postal officials told smaller sites to keep their regular hours. The office in Pleasant Prairie is closed during the lunch hour. Peterson collects new stamps and always buys them on the first day of issue. She will mail a sheet of 40 to a friend in Austral ia. Within the first five minutes, 200 stamps were sold to three customers.
