Funeral services for Mrs. Mark Carter, 89, were held Saturday in the Earlville United Presbyterian Church, the Rev. Aelwyn Hughes officiating. Burial was in Precinct Cemetery. Pallbearers, six of her grand sons, were Forrest Glover, Gary Cody, Craig, Harold, Jeffrey and Bradley Carter. Arrangements were by Torman Son Funeral Home. The former Jane Aitken was born Dec. 7, 1886, in Ottawa and died Thursday, Jan. 1, 1976, in Sunrise Nursing Home, Mendota. She was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Sophia Gatiss Aitken, received her education in the Earlville schools, and was married May 9, 1912, to Mark Carter, who preceded her in death Sept. 21, 1968. Mrs. Carter was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, the Needlecraft Club, the Garden Circle and of D. A. Town Chapter, O.E.S., since April of 1909. Survivors are five children, Mrs. Wendell (Marian) Cody of Earlville, Mrs. Morris (Gwen dolyn) Shaddle of Plano and Forrest, Bruce and Howard Carter all of Earlville; thirteen grandchildren, nine great grand children and one sister, Mrs. Harlow (Zoe) Miller of Earl ville. A brother and two sisters preceded Mrs. Carter in death.
