Mr. Thornley was born June 3, 1830 at Leyland, Lancastershire, Eng land; came to Utah October 1, 1855 in John Hindley's company; married Annie Brighton, March 24, 1855, their children having resulted from this marriage: Robert B., John S., Wil liam, Hellen Annie, Seth Thomas, James George, Samuel, the familly home in at Smithfeld, Utah, and all are living. Sister Thornley who was born In 1540 and came to Utah with Jerad] Evans’ hand cart company, all walks hand in hand with Mr. Thornley. The Thornley family were the first nine to live in Smithfield and helped to lay out and survey that city.
