| „ A Brilliant Reception.due of the pleasant affairs of the ; holidays was the reception on Thurs-''day afternoon, from 2:80 to 5, given bv Mrs. Willis Raymond Carmichael i an her pretty home on Worth Mul-1 berry street in honor ut Mrs. O. L.. Chestnut*, of Tifton. Mrs. Carmi-■ chuel \*i*e assisted in receiving by Mrs. J. \V. Canniohnal, On arrival 1 each guest was served to punch by Miss lien ha Carmichael, l^ach one was expected to carry some kind of needlework, a *d the busy fingers, plying fancy stitches, kept time to the merry chatter of voices. After the sewing, leaflets, handpainted in violets and containing twenty-six questions pertinent to needlework, were given each one, and special time was allotted for the answers. During the contest, which was both lively and unique, delicious crystallized violets were served. The prize,, a silver thimble, was awarded Mrs.Rosa Wright. During the afternoon i a dainty salad course was much enjoyed. Mrs. Carmichael was beautifully gowned in lavender crepe de chine, and performed well the part of a gracious hostess. The guests were: Mesdames J. H. Carmichael, Rosa Wright, S. B. Kinard, C. W. Whitehurst, Bryant Thompson, S. P. Nichols, E. L. Dawson, H. W. Nally,J. H. McKibben, J. F. Carmichael,J. L. Byron, J. W. Buttrill, O. L. Chdstnntt,J. W. Carmichael; Misses Bertha Carmichael, Hattie Buttrill, Lucy Goodman.In the evening quite, a number of young matrons, young ladies and young men were invited to enjoy her hospitality. Each one, , by request, represented their hobby, and it was indeed a m fry-crowd as the various \ hobbies made known. Therewas something worn which would readily suggest their work, and much ingenuity was shown in the different representations. Miss Minnie Bailey received first pries mid Mr. H. R. PolUtxer the booby.
