He was accompanied here by Ole Marsh who came ail the way from Idaho to be present and act with Mr.Gotch. This morning “Farmer” Martin Burns arrived in the city from Big Rock and it is probable that the forthcoming match will be decided definitely .some time during the day. Mr. Gotch means business.' So do the other gentlemen who are here representing him.Gotch was seen relative to the proposed match and said:“I will go against Eli for any part of a thousand dollars, not to be less, however, than $200. X would prefer $250. I saw the manager of the Turk and lie stated that he would bet $100 on the side. This is not enough. 1 understood that he would put up $200 or I would not have come. He made such a statement in The Header. The expense of training is so, great that I would not like to undertake getting ready for the “go” unless there is more money in it. I, may lose of course, but if I win then I will get enough out of it to pay me/’Wants Rooney.But Mr. Gotch wants a bout with Rooney of Chicago. He says that he will wrestle Rooney, eatch-as-eateli-ean, Police Gazette rules to govern for any part of $1,000. and he will post $100 forfeit with any newspaper, bank or responsible party in this city.Mr. Marsh, who comes here witn Mr. Gotch is originally from Decorah this state, but he has been 111 Alaska during the past several years. He is something of a great wrestler himself but not in the same class with Mr. Gotch. Tuohey and Jenkins dissolved partnership last week because of Jenkins unwillingness to wrestle oftencr than once every two or three months. Tuohey believes that a champion should defend liis title whenever called on to do so anti feels that the only way to earn the esteem of.the sporting public is to keep busy and meet all bona fide challengers.Wittmer in conversation with a reporter hist night, said that he was glad to be with a hustler of the Tuo-ficy type and believed that his future was brighter than ever,“1 am open to meet ail corners at any style,” he added. ”1 have never been defeated at Graeco-Roman style and was the only American to hold Yousof. the Original Terrible Turk, to a draw after three hours of hard wrestling. 1 claim the American championship at Graeco-Roman and am ready to defend it against all coiners.I do not claim to be so. good at eatch-as-catch-ean. but I believe that I am good enough at that style to make all the champions travel hard to beat me.
