Twice in an Hour at Graeco-Roman, or Will Make a Finish Contest With Them at Catch-as-Catch~Can—Two Best Out of Three Falls.Cincinnati, O.. Jan. l.—(Special to The L»cader.)—Charley 'Wittmcr, the American champion. Graeco-Homan wrestler, has placed ins -affairs in the hands of Geo. V. Tuohey, “the man vs*ho made Jenkins famous,’* and who managed that wrestler so successfully tor the past three years. Tuohey and Jenkins dissolved partnership last week because of Jenkins unwillingness j to wrestle oftencr than once every two or three months. Tuohey believes that a champion should defend his title whenever called on to do so and feels that the only way to earn the esteem of.the sporting public is to keep busy and meet all bona fide challengers.Wittmcr in conversation with a reporter last night, said that, he was glad to be with a hustler of the Tuohey type and believed that his future was brighter than ever.“1 am open to meet ail corners at any style,” he added. “1 have never been defeated at Graeco-Roman style and was the only American to hold Yousof. the Original Terrible Turk, to a draw after throe hours of hard wrestling. I claim the American championship at Graeco-Roman and am ready to defend it against ail coiners. I do not claim to be so. good at calch-as-catch-ean. but I believe that 1 am good enough at that style to make all the champions travel hard to beat me. [ am seeking matches, now with Farmer Burns, Gotch, Rooney. Mourdulah or any others who are in the Northwest, where I understand that thegame is very strong..If parses are offered for me I am ready to make matches at once with Burns or any of the men named, 1 will-agree to throw Gotch or ’Burns twice in one hour at Graeco-Roman or will make a finish contest with either at. catch-as-catch-can; best two out of three falls I willbet some money on the. result. A telegram to Mrs. Tuohey; 429Vi Superior St.. Cleveland, will bring back a quick response. uMy challenge is open to the world, bar nobody,, but Farmer Burns can have the preference.”
