Fiiknch Merinos Imported.—-By the Cortesthere ariived at this port, says the 8. F. Bulletin, forty large French Merino sheep, de-se end nuts from stock imported by the famous Solomon W. Jewett., of Vermont, who personally brings this flock to our market. These French Merinos are distinguished by their large, heavy folds—it being not uncommon to shear 16 or 20 pounds from a single one of them. The French cross gives the Merinos a larger carcase, and secures a daintier mutton. About half of this flock are bucks. But one of the number was lost on the way, and that from over feeding. The voyage was long, and the detention at Panama in the rain risky, but they till arrived in excellent condition, for every one of them there having been paid $75 for the passage from New York. They are as docile as kittens, and seem to enjoy the handling of the strangers who drop in at the stable, on Sausomc street, near California, to iuspeet them. 'Ttiu* II#. \ rp*11
