All day Saturday, both cash, clothing and food contributions were being sent to the firm’s offices which are located im mediately west of the disaster site. Officials of the firm said authorized workers will be at the plant all day Sunday to re ceive and pick up donations. Persons wanting to contrib ute may call the Home Packing Co. switchboard (C-0161) all day Sunday. Meanwhile, Bernard Sweeney, chief of the arson division of the state fire marshal’s office, indicated Saturday that a team of state investigators probing the cause of the blast are agreed that the Home Packing Company tragedy was caused by a “gas type explosion.” Sweeney reported that his of fice has given a go ahead for salvage operations at the explo sion site beginning Monday. Saturday, the blast area was still roped off and sightseers were kept away from the im mediate tangled mass of rubble. Also touring the blast area Saturday were Terre Haute Fire Chief Norman Fesler and Wil bur Walls, a representative of the National Fire Protection Association. Walls, who flew in to Terre Haute from New York, is considered a top ex pert in the field of gas type ex plosions. Fesler indicated that Walls’ findings would be turned over to the state fire marshal’s office. Walls declined to make a public statement regarding his find ings. Elsewhere, the list of critical ly injured workers shrunk to four at the city’s two hospitals. Twenty of a total of 52 injured workers remain in a fair condi tion at the hospitals. Still listed in a critical condi tion are Oscar Kipple, 70, 1911 South Fifth street; St. Anthony Hospital; Ernest Reed, 708 Elm street; Charles Robinson, 23, West Terre Haute, and John Fisher, 30, Rosedale, Union Hospital.
