The figures will be of bronae, 7 l~2 feet iu height, resting on pedestal of Mt. Airy granite, 4 1-2 feet in height, t n each side of the pedestal will be a has relief, one representing the women of the South bidding the soldiers good-lvye and God-speed on their departure for the war. the oilier representing the women of the South welcoming them on their return home at the close of the war, cheering and sustaining them in this defeat.The woman in the . group ia narrating to the boy at her side, who found the sword of his father, who has fallen in the war, the story of the Confederacy, and inspiring him with an ambition to do .something for hs country worthy of the deeds of hi* heroic Confederate father.
