Da t Some Pretty Work.BALLARD'S VERY BROAD JUMPBunton Got His Glory From * Hop, Step «i*lt;X Jump—Record# That Were Made by the Boy a ot the Class.At the semi-monthly contest of the Y. it C. A. gymnasium, held yesterday afternoon, the junior indoor broad •jump record was broken. Ba.lard was the boy that did it and the plucky iittle athlete cleared fifteen feet in his attempt. The only other contestant who approached his record was Durston, who cleared 14 feet, S inches.Durston had his turn at record-breaking: later when the running; hop, step and jump was run off, and established a new record at 38 feet 4 inches. Both of the record-breakers fell behind in the standing broad jump and Smith captured the- event with a jumo of 7 feet 10X inches. Dura ton jumped 7 feet 3.0 inches, but could not gain the required half inch and so was beaten out.The summary follows:Contestants.Standing . Running jKun. The “Rustlers” proved altogether too much for their opponents and the final score stood IS to 9 in their favor. _Indoor Shootlnf Club.The Syracuse Indoor Shooting club elected for president, F. O. Alnslie; vice-president, John F. Heim; secretary and treasurer, R. Robotham; cap-: tain, S. S. Spire; lieutenant, John R Rowland. The new board of officers showed their progressive spirit by arranging a series of semi-weekly* shoots, during this month, which will be open to all comers. Twenty-two cash and merchandise prizes are ottered. The contest is opened to both pistol and rifle shots and will take place at the club rooms, No. 115 South Clinton street.
