Funeral services for Eli Fields 83 were held December 31, 1982 at 2 p.m. in Griffin Funeral Home Chapel. Fields was born June 15, 1800 in the state of Texas. He died Christmas Day and had resided at 801 South First Street. He came to Hobbs in 1948. Survivors include his wife, Mable; three sons, Eli Fields, Seattle, Wa., Tommy Fields, Silver City, N.M. and RL, Fields, Portland, Ore. Five daughters, Laura E. Fields, Flossie Mackey and Maggie Lewis of Hobbs; Betty Lee and Della Harris, both of Phoenix, Az. One brother, Clarence Fields of Commerce, Tx., 37 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
