DROWNED IN CISTERN.Ezra Sedore, twenty-seven years old. was drowned in a cistern on the Somner R. Stone place, in Stone avenue. at Ossining, on Saturday afternoon.The young man was employed on the Stone estate under Caretaker Samuel T. Davis, and on Saturday they were to put a new top 011 the old cistern.Mr. Sedore’s young wife was ill that day. and she pleaded with her husband to stay at home in the afternoon. Ezra said he would go over and ask Mr. Davis if the work couldn’t be delayed until Monday. Mr. Davis decided to let it go over until Monday, as he had some business to attend to. and he told Ezra to cover up the cistern with some boards and then he could go home.Mr. Davis then left him and went into the house, and a few minuteslater his little daughter and a friendcame running to him and said that there were a man's coat and hat in the cistern.Mr. Davis, knowing that Mr. Sedore was subject to dizziness, and fearing that the worst had happened, ran to the cistern and pulled out the young man. He rolled him on a barrel. while some one telephoned for Dr. Byington. To all appearances Sedore was dead.In the meantime Mrs. John Mullins suspected something had happened to Ezra and she called her husband, a night watchman on the Cockroft place, who is Sedore’s brother-in-law, and he hurried to the scene.Dr. Byington. having his rig in readiness for a call at Briarcliff, drove with all speed to the Stone place, where he used every means to restore the young man to consciousness. but to no avail. The doctor pronounced death due to strangulation.Coroner Silleck, of Peekskill, was notified, and the inquest was held at 5.JO o’clock at the Stone house. The witnesses were Samuel T. Davis, Dr. C. P. Byington and John Mullins. The Coroner’s verdict was death by drowning, due to an epileptic fit.Sedore has two brothers living in this village—Charles and Carmine. ***-
