MARGARET E. McQUIGGAN MNASTER, Mich. — Margaret Elizabeth McQuiggan, 90, died ere Dec. 26. Born in Westernport, Md., on Aug. 10, 1896, she was a daughter of the late C.B. Broadwater and Mary (Gregg) Broadwater. She was the last surviving member of her im mediate family and was preceded in death by her hus band, Victor McQuiggan, and two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Michael nd Mrs. Naomi Harvey. She is survived by one daughter, Dr. Thelma Davis, Wearborn, Mich., and three grandchildren. The body was cremated. MRS. SNYDER RITES Mass of Christian burial for Mrs. Mabel R. Snyder, 89, of 444 Columbia Street, who died friday in Lion’s Manor Nursing Home, will be celebrated in SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church Monday at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Mark. Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The rosary will be recited at the funeral home Sunday at 7:30 p.m. Pallbearers will be Ricky Ryan, James King, Patrick King, Richard King, Douglas Wolfe and Mark Sweitzer. HELEN LOUISE RICE KEYSER, W.Va. — Mrs. Helen Louise Rice, 76, of 33 Chestnut Street, died Saturday at her home. Born in Cumberland, Md., on Feb. 8, 1910, she was the daughter of the late Clarence D. and Nellie (Stotler) Plumb. A retired registered nurse and a 1928 graduate of Keyser High School, Mrs. Rice received nurses’ training at the Sibley Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Washington, D.C. Formerly employed as an RN at Potomac Valley Hosptal here, she was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and the Alumni Asso ciation of Sibley Memorial Hospital. Surviving are her husband, John H. Rice Sr.; one daughter, Mrs. Patricia L. Funderburg, Burlington; two sons, John H. Rice Jr. and Clarence R. Rice, both of Keyser, eight grand children and three great grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Markwood-McKenzie Funeral Home Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel Tuesday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. David R. Peters. Interment will be in Potomac Memorial Gar dens. CHARLES E. SPICER JR. BALTIMORE — Charles E. Spicer Jr., 69, of 2213 Louise Avenue, died Saturday at Union Memorial Hospital. Born in West Virginia, he was a son of Charles E. Spicer Sr. and Charlotte (Bougher) Spicer. He is survived by his widow, Frances E. (Brown) Spicer, and one sister, Mrs. Margearite Spicer, Cumberland. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Spicer and Thomas Spicer. Friends will be received at the Leonard J. Buck, Inc., Funeral Home, 5305 Harford Road, Sunday and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9p.m. A wake service will be held at the funeral home Monday at 3:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Domenick’s Catholic Church Tuesday at 9:30a.m., Interment will be in Parkwood Cemetery MRS. Pretzel, 84, of here, who died Wednes day in Garrett Memorial Hos pital, Oakland, Md., will be conducted in the Glade Farms United Chapel, near here, Sunday at 1 p.m. by the Rev. Bryan McMullen and the Rev. Charles Berkshire. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to services. Inter ment will be in Shady Grove Cemetery, Bruceton Mills. CARTER MOUNT SAVAGE — Joseph R. Carter, 61, of Water Street, died Saturday in the Goodwill Mennonite Nursing Home, Grantsville, where he had resided the past two years. Born in Mount Savage on Nov. 19, 1925, he was the son of the late John O. and Rose (Burkey) Carter. A retired employee of Mount Savage Refractories, Mr. Carter was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and a life member of the Mount Savage Volunteer Fire De partment. Surviving are one son, James Carter, address unknown; two brothers, Francis A. Carter, Mount Savage; Robert T. Carter, Pittsburgh; three sisters, Miss Mary K. Carter, Cumberland; Mrs. Linda Johnson, Mount Savage; Miss Patricia Carter, Washington, D.C., and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A wake service will be held at the funeral home Monday at 8:15 p.m. MINNIE MAE BENNETT Mrs. Minnie Mae Bennett, 100, formerly of Queen City Towers, died Dec. 30 in Spokane, Wash. Born in Cumberland on Sept. 4, 1886, she was the daughter of the late Francis Marion and Emma C. (Whigfield) Drake. She was also preceded in death by her husband, George Ben nett, in 1949; one daughter, Emma Bennett, in 1950; and one son, Harry Bennett, in 1961 Surviving are two sons, William Bennett, Charleston, W.Va.; Archie Bennett, Spokane, with whom she had resided since 1979; one sister, Mrs. Ella D. Garlitz, Cumber land, six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. The body will be cremated. Graveside services will be conducted in the Everett (Pa.) Cemetery at a later date. JAcOB S. MULLENAX SR. OLDTOWN — Services for Jacob S. Mullenax Sr., 79, of RD 1, who died Friday in Memorial Hospital, will be conducted in the Right Funeral Home Mon day at 1 p.m. by the Rev. William H. Rice. Interment will be in the Mullenax family cemetery. LONG SERVICES PATTERSON’S CREEK, W.Va. — Services for Mrs. Dorothy (Stine) Long, 84, of here, who died Friday in Dawn View Nursing Home, Fort Ashby, will be conducted at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, Cumberland, Md., Sunday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Mary Lou Daniels. Interment will be in Fort Ashby Cemetery. Grandsons will be honorary pallbearers. MRS. YOUNGBLOOD RITES Mass of Christian burial for Mrs. Bertha P. Youngblood, 87, of Oldtown, who died Thursday in Lion’s Manor Nursing Home, will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Monday at 9 a.m. by the Rev. William Moody. Interment will be in Camp Hill Cemetery, Paw Paw, W.Va. Mrs. Mary Jane Harvey, 72, of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of here, died Wednesday in St. Anthony’s Hospital, Columbus. Born in Moorefield on Nov. 22, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Willard and Sally (Method) Ford. She was also preceded in death by her hus band, George Harvey, in 1973. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Mildred Redman, Co lumbus; four sons, George Harvey, Columbus; James Harvey, Los Angeles, Calif., Raymond Harvey and Vernon Harvey, both of Moorefield; three sisters, Mrs. Catherine Green, Pearl Harvey and Mrs. Anna Mae Redman, all of Co lumbus, 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
