Former Coach Here Inducted In Sports HallDoc Hayes, who first made a name for himself as a basketball coach at Pilot Point, was inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame over the weekend.Born E. 0. So if any mistakes were made I deserved the blame.4* Hayes went on to become a highly successful coach at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. In 20 years his SMU basketball teams won eight championships and tied for another. His teams appeared in five bowl games and had an overall 74-64-7 recored.He coached the Pilot Point Bearcats to three district titles in Denton County, and the eight college championships are more than any other coach has recorded in | the history of the Southwest Conference.
