TRAGIC ACCIDENT A most tragic accident happened late Tues. p.m. on highway 18 about 3 miles east of Spencer. TheSouhrada family were returning to Ruthven after spending the Holidays in South Dakota, when they became involved In a three car accident that claimed the life of their 7 year old son, Todd, who wa killed instantly and Mr. Gary Souhrada, 37 died at ' about seven oclock after being taken to the Spencer hospital.It is reported that a pick up driven by Lawrence Buck side swiped a car driven by Emmet^Kundel then swerved into the path of the Soohrada car. The Souhrada car was totally demolished while the other vehicles were not so badly damaged.Mr. Souhrada joined the Staff of the Ruthven School and was beginning his 4th. year, teaching math, and Social Studies in High School.Mrs. Souhrada and daughter Judy are in the Spencer Hospital as of this writing, suffering cuts and lacerations, but doing quite well.The family have been well accepted here in Ruthven and the loss of these two precious lives, will be badly missed, not only in school but by our community.Arrangements are pending at the Lightle-Hayes Funeral Home.
