Funeral Services Held For Lilburn Smith, 59Lilburn W. Smith, 59, of 711 Harrison Street, died Sunday, December 31, at 5:25 p. m. at the Divine Infant Hospital, where he had been taken a short time before.He was born March 23, 1908 in Mass, Michigan and attended the elementary schools in Mass and attended high school in Wakefield.He came to Wakefield in 1917 and has lived here since except for two and one-half years in Superior Ship Yards and one year in the Arctic during World War II. He was employed at the Sunday Lake Mine, Wakefield Schools, the Ship Yaids in Supreior, in Greenland, Arctic as a welder and for twenty years operated the Smith Welding and Machine Shop in Wakefield.He was a member of the Agogebic Masonic Lodge 4094, Wakefield, a member of the UP Northern Wisconsin Motorboat Racing Association and was also well known as a gunsmith.He was married to Edna Campbell on November 11, 1928 in Wakefield. Surviving is his wife, a son, Ronald of Cheboygan, Michigan, two grandchildren, and two brothers, Royal of Ramsay and Joseph H. of Newark, Delaware.Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 3, at 2:00 p. m. at the Methodist Church with the Rev. James Lumsden officiating with burial in Lakeside Cemetery.
