Members of the Ventura County Board of Supervisors will today or ganize for the year at their first an nual meeting. The only change in the personnel of the board for the new year will be the taking office of Ed Goodenough of Fillmore, succeeding M. H. Butcher. Goodenough is looked upon as a very representative supervisor having been a resident and served in mayor of Santa Paula, as well as being well conversant with Fillmore and the en tire east end of the county. At the final meeting for 1926, the supervisors awarded the contract for the new jail at Piru to Hastings and Yeakle of Fillmore for $3863. There were five other bidders, bids being: F. J. Bauhaus, $4285; C. E Penn, $$4498; G. A. Kiffe, $5698; P. A. Bellanger, $4690; and C. A. Wil liams $4490. The new jail will be constructed entirely of concrete, with tile roof, and four tool-proof steel cels. Three bids for the construction of a 420-foot storm water sewer at the entrance of Foster Park were made, but the low bid, made by the United Concrete Pipe and Construction Com pany, at $5.75 per foot, was taken un der advisement. The other bidders on the job and their bids were: Fow ler Myers, $5.55 per foot; E. H. Hunt, $5.50 per foot. The board put up for auction on Erie steam shovel, and three contrac tors made bids of $2000, $2200, $2500 and $2800 on the shovel. The board, however, decided to reject all bids as they were not high enough. A deed for a street right of way in the Simpson tract was accepted by the board from EK. M. Sheridan. Hearing on the new petition and bond of Charles Padelford for the construction of a road across the Hugh Warring property near Piru was set for Feb. 2, following a report of a board of viewers made to the board.
