Mrs. Matthew M. Scott enter tained more than a hundred in vited guests at her home, 417 Mulberry street, on New Year's day from 8 to 5 p.m. with a musical. A dignified simplicity characterized the decorations which were in holiday effect. In the receiving life were Mrs. Scott, Mrs. Mansy, Mrs. Sue Scott and Miss Pinson. Miss Helen Mann Scoatt Instrumental Solo..... .‘*Iltravatore’’ Miss Lorena Wiltermood Vocal Solo . “Good Night Lezanne”’ Miss Madge Dobbins Instrumental Solo. .. “Good Night” Miss Giartrude Moss Vocal Solo Miss Helen Mann Scott Vocal Solo.... ai “Violets go “A Dream’ Miss Madge Dobbins After the program was render ed the guests were ushered into the dining room by Miss Jessie Robison assisted by Mrs. Swine hart, Mrs. A. G. Wright and Mrs. J. B. Hupp. The table was daintily appointed with poinsetta and scarlet tapers. Holly was given the guests as favors on leaving the dining room. Mrs. Griffith presided over the coffee urn assisted by Misses Mary and Dayne Scott. The out of town guests were: Miss Wilson. Ind ianapolis: Miss Madge Dawbins, Bedford: Mrs. W. M. Moss, Miss Gertrude Moss, Linton, Mrs. Sue Scott, Helen Scott, St. Louis, Mrs. Grace Stogsdill. Newport: Mrs. Martin Mann, Metcalf, W.: Mrs. Oscar Per kins, Mrs. W. A. Duncan, Miss Duncan, Mrs. Oosley, Miss Grace Gardiner, Mrs. Leonard D. Scott, Miss Scott, Dayne Scott, Mrs. Ben Cooper. The first reunion of the class of ‘16 was held at the home of Miss Helen Wood Friday night, Dec. 28, 1906, the first time the class had met since commence ment. All members except one were present, Olive Richards, president of the class, “who ‘is now in Deaconess hospital, In dianapolis, studying to be a nurse.The evening was spent in conversation and music, each one telling of his work at the present time. The following is a summary of their stories: saude Delp, teacher at Jackson ville; Gladys Harrington, stu dent at Indiana State Normal; David Devonald, student at Rose Polytechnic Institute; Howard Clover, farmer; Lorena Wiltermood, student at». ‘St. Mary's of the Woods; Grace Blake and Elsie Porter, clerks in this city; Helen Wood, at tending State Normal. ‘Helen Scott, student at Glendale Col lege near Cincinnati. All seem to hike their work. Light re freshments were served. The favors were red and white car nations, red and white being the class colors. They parted at a late our, planning tits meet at once next year. Bra, Metta Crabb gave a miscel laneous shower Thursday afternoon for Misa Maggie Pinson the bride-elect, whose marriage takes place next Wed nesday night. The guests numbered about forty-two. Each guest brought her favorite housewife receipt which Wag pasted in a book and presented to the bride-elect with a pretty little speech by airs. Unal McClellan. The guests were then ushered into the din ing room where the presents were dis played on a Christmas tree. After the preseniation speech Miss Callie Mc Menachin gave the bride her presents assisted by Mrs. Jones. They were then seated around the table and toasts were given, Mrs.Frank Swinehart act ing as Coastmaster. Mrs. Crane re sponded with the use of the bride as a teacher; Mrs. Wright,as a social favor ite; Miss Belle Campbell, the bachelor girls. Refreshments of buron ice and cake were served. Alusic was furnish ed by Mrs.J. B. Bapp. Mrs. Will Max rfin and Mes. w W. Allen entertained the neit hers of the C. W. BLM. and their husbands Monday night. Refreshments were served and a general good time had. A party was given at the home of Mrs.C. R. Cooper in honor of Miss Belvs Schrader, who has been visiting here this week. Refreshments were served and a pleasant time spent play ing games There were about forty present. O. W. Harlan and son. Roy, of Bloomingdale visited Omer and Lawrence Harlan last week. Miss Mary McConchie of Paris, Al, who was the guest of Miss Goldie Reed returned to her home Tuesday. . yirs. Will Hazelett and mrs. Cora Dalton and daughter, Georgia, attended the opera at Tuesday afternoon. Ed Robison of Bridgeton, Ind., and Al Robison of Winamac, Ind., were in the city Tuesday visiting their cousin Mr. Robi son, John Davis went to Terre Haute Monday to visit his daughter, Mrs. Wade, who is a member of a dramatic company. Mr and Mrs. Martin Mann of Metcalf, U1. are visiting the family of M. W. Scott and other relatives. Mrs. Mae Vieree returned to her home in Roasville, AL.. Wed nesday after a visit with her sis ter Mrs. Effie Harrison. Miss Lillian Maher of Cham paign, T1L., who was the guest of John O'Rourke and family, re turned to her home Monday. yra. Anton Butler and miss Mayme Campbell attended the play at Terre Haute Tuesday afternoon. Miss Gertrude Moss of Linton, who came Monday to visit rela tives and to attend the musicale given by Mrs. Scott, returned to her home Friday. Dick Moore, who was hurt in a runaway a few weeks ago, was taken to the Hospital in Terre ‘Haute last week for ‘treatment. Joe O'Rourke of Burnett, Ethel and Josie’ “Beauchamp and Tom Yowél of Rosedale were guests.of . John..O'Rourke and family Sunday.
