I have not learned when lie died, but his funeral took place at his home last Sun day and he was buried at Mt. Pleasant, Johnson county. Mr. Evans was a good citizen and a Christian man. Though unassuming, yetlino in his convictions of what wasright, lie was a soldier of the lie-hellion and was with one branch of the army stationed at New Orleans at the time Psesident Lincoln was assassinated. He leaves a wife, who is a helpless invalid, two daughters and one son. I deeply regret that I j could not attend the funeral to pay my last respects to one I greatly admired. Mr. Evans was a firstcousin of Dr. P. MacNab and Mrs, J. A. Carter. The family have our sympathy. There are only two of his brothers left, James and Alvin Evans.
