Levi Evans is dead after great suffering for several years with a com plication of diseases. I have not learned when he diad, but his funeral took place at his home last Sunday and he was buried at Mt. Pleasant, Johnson county. Mr. Evans was a good citizen and a Christian man. Though unassuming, yet linn in his convictions of what was right. He was a soldier of the Rebellion and was with one branch of the army stationed at New Orleans ! at the time Psesident Lincoln was assassinated. He leaves a wife, who is a helpless invalid, two daughters and one son. I deeply regret that I j could not attend the funeral to pay my last respects to one I greatly admired. Mr. Evans was a first cousin of Dr, P. MacNab and Mrs. J. A. Carter. The family have our sympathy. There are only two of his brothers left, James and Alvin Evans.
