New County Regime. MINNEAPOLIS, Jan. 2.—The county of fers-elect, including Judges Brooks and Pond, County Attorney Reed and his staff, and Sheriff Megaarden and his staff, entered upon their new duties today. Mr. Megaarden and the Members of his staff who have thus far been appointed, took dissension of the sheriff's office at noon, Mr. Philips turning over the keys to the office and jail at that time. Dr. Henry S. Nelson, assumed the office of coroner at noon. The books and records of the office being turned over to him by Dr. Dannis. The new coroner's office will be in the Towne block, as will that of his first deputy, Dr. Neil Downey. Drs. Little and Erdman are the other deputies The new board of county commissioners, composed of the members of the old board, with the exception of Commissioner Sweet, vice A. A. Barnard, organized this morning, electing Charles Wilkins as chairman. The new school board elected Dr. T. F. tary. Superintendent of Schools Watson also entered upon the discharge of his duties. Masonic Temple Blaze. MINNEAPOLIS, Jan. 2.—A bad blaze was discovered In the Masonic Temple this after noon. The fire originated in a closet adjoin ing the lodge room of the Scottish Rite Ma sons. It ate its way into the consistory and spread rapidly up a flight of stairs at the rear of the stage. There it damaged the dra peries and banners while the hall was filled with a dense smoke. After a stubborn fight the firemen conquered the blaze. The para phernalia of the lodge was smoked, but oth erwise was not damaged. The entire loss will amount to $1,000. It is possible that the fire was caused by a live wire, No Fraud Found. MINNEAPOLIS, Jan. 2.—Judge Johnson, as his last official act, filed his order in ‘the case of the Winthrop National bank against the Minneapolis Terminal Elevator company, these being the action against’ the stock holders. The decision of the court finds that R. B. Langdon, W. H. Hinkle and Thomas M. Linton, as managing officers of the de fendant company, were guilty of no fraud, dishonesty or any other alleged acts. In the 1st of those against whom judgment is to be cute are the Langdon estate, — W. E. Steele, $11,000; Levi L. Cooke, $28,300. $5.00 other judgments are for sums averaging Informal Inauguration. MINNEAPOLIS, Jan. 2.—The coprnption of office by Supt. Doyle was an info affair, at 4 o'clock the afternoon. He simply walked into the superintendent's office and took the chair, which had been vacated by Supt. Smith. The latter shook hands with his successor and the new executive invited his predecessor to sit down and make himself at home. Mayor Gray's first appointment after his inauguration yesterday was that of Elbert B. Stevens as secretary of the police depart ment. MINNEAPOLIS BREVITIES.
