The Creative Chefs 4-H Club met Dec. 9 at Cooks Creek Presbyterian Church. A potluck dinner was served, as well as birthday cakes inspired by each month and prepared by club members. Following dinner, members were recognized for 2012- 2013 4-H year accomplishments; awards were handed out for completing project books and perfect attendance. Members who received first-year pins included Rachel Craun, Kristen Cyzick, Katelynn Fellenstein, Mindi Freed, Kaylin Howard, Abby Villacrusis, Madeline Williamson, and Caroline Young. Second-year pins were presented to Jordon Brittle, Syd nee Cline, Macey Early and Emily Villacrusis. Breanna Wright and Krista Wright earned third-year pins. Members who received fourth-year pins include Katelyn Kauffman and Carter Young; Anne Marie Kaufmann re ceived a sixth-year pin; Anna Lauren Myers received an eighth-year pin; Kristina Callender, Mary Callender, Claire Shank and Jared Diehl have completed nine years, and Erin Miller was recognized for 10 years of membership. Perfect attendance awards were given to Breanna Wright, Krista Wright, Mary Callender, Kristina Callender and Miller. Shank and Diehl earned scholarships for attend ing 4-H State Congress held at Virginia Tech. Dave McCoy of the Dayton Raritan Club presented co president Diehl with a scholarship on behalf of the Dayton Raritan Club. Diehl was Virginia's competitor in the Nation al Chicken-que Contest in Louisville, Ky, where he placed eighth in the nation. Each member brought two dozen homemade cookies to be used for “beer plates” to be delivered in the community. Non perishable food was collected to benefit the the West Rock ingham Food Pantry. ‘Twenty-eight individuals took part in November's Adopt- A-Highway event. The next meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, with the annual Share the Fun Night.
