STEVE FLO COMPLETES EMERGENCY TRAININGSteve Flo of Frost, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Flo, recently completed a course offered through Rochester Community College which qualified him as a registered emergency medical technician.Flo, a member of the Frost Ambulance Service, completed 71 classroom hours and 10 hours of work in a hospital to earn the qualification.With two other members of the Frost service, he is now qualified to take care of life threatening injuries before an accident victim reaches a hospital, and is also qualified to monitor vital signs, including blood pressure.Those who have taken the course are able to diagnose many of the medical problems that arise in emergency situations. Although they are not presently licensed to perform minor I surgery or give injections, the I course gives them the knowledge i to suggest treatment to ‘ physicians over the radio while I #the ambulance is en route to a I hospital.Topics covered in the training 1 included, in addition to anatomy i and technical- matters, in- s struction in disassembling an automobile in order to free trapped victims, discussion of how to preserve criminal evidence and observation of surgical procedures at a St. Paul hospital.
