Miss Phyllis Ellen Newcomb, daughter of Mr. and’ Mrs. Wesley W. Newcomb, became the bride of Charles Edward Maple,son of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Maple at ‘4 o'clock in the afternoon on Dec. 30, in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The Rev. Leon Morrow officiat ed at the double ring ceremony before the altar banked with a pair of seven-branched candelabra, holding burning tapers, cadorned with huckleberry and white gladi oli, centered with white Queen Anne pompon mums and white sat in ribbon. Preceding the ceremony, Miss Catherine Bartlett played a pro gram of nuptial music. She accom panied David Holloway when he sang, “The Ring,” by Robert Schumann, and ‘‘The Lord’s Pray er,’by ‘Malotte. She also played The Wedding March from Lo hengrin by Wagner for the proces sional, and Wedding’ March from Midsummer Night’s Dream, by Mendelssohn, for the recessional. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a street length ‘sheath dress and semi-fitted jack et, with below elbow length sleeves of white satin brocade. She wore a white satin whimsey hat with face veil, and carried a cascade ar rangement of white sweetheart roses and lime green trenched car nations, centered with a lime green cymbidium orchid removable cor sage. The dress was fashioned and made by the bride from material brought from Spain by her broth er, Larry Newcomb, Mrs. Paul Upshaw of Emporia was the matron of honor. She wore a beige wool suit with mink trimmed hat, and brown acces sories. Miss Wilinda Landon, Pitts burg, was the bridesmaid. She wore a pale gold suit, with mink trimmed hat and brown accessor ies. Each attendant wore a cor sage of white carnations trimmed with green satin ribbons. Miss Mona Davis was in charge of the guest book. Larry Cornwell acted as best man for the groom. Robert Vohs was the groomsman. The ushers were James Newcomb, brother of the bride, and Ronald Maple, cou sin of the groom. For her daughter’s wedding ,Mrs. Newcomb chose an aqua wool flan nel dress with black and white accessories. Mrs. Maple, mother of the groom, wore a beige knit sheath dress with brown and black accessories. Each wore a corsage of white Fugi mums. The bride is a graduate of Col lege High School,.. Pittsburg,and the Iola Junior College. The groom is a graduate of the Iola High School and the Iola Junior College. For their wedding trip, the bride wore her wedding suit with brown and beige accessories, and the removable corsage from her bridal bouquet. After Jan. 7 they will be at home at 1628 Bush Street, San Fran cisco, where Mr. Maple is attend ing the San Francisco College of Mortuary Science. Out-of-town guests at the wed ding were ‘Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Landon and Miss Wilinda Lan don, Pittsburg; Ray Marousek, iChicago; Mr.;and Mrs. Paul Up shaw, Emporia; .John Rawson, Joplin; Donald Meats, and Miss Catherine Bartlett, LeRoy.
