Both these are given full scope in The Talisman Ring. and are far more interesting than the plot, good though it is.Although the tale opens with the Sylvester, ninth Baron of Lavanbam. from his deathbed, oommending his great nephew Sir Tristram to marrr his ward Eustacie. there is ao much humor to be conjured up from the pen picture of this scene, that the reader immediately settles down anticipating hours of chuckles, and he will not be disappointed. Aa has been said before of Georgette Heyer s characters, they are not brought into the story—they seem to grow into it There is the Beau, an attractive villain. the vivacious Eustacie, the outlawed heJr LudovJc, Mias Thaaa. a very clever spinster. Sir Hugh, a great drinker but no fool, and many minor but none the leas graphically drawn characters such as Nye, the innkeeper.As the title suggerts, the eearch for a talisman ring is the cause of most of the trouble, and the finding of It Is the solution to the romance.
