CHRISTMASTRAGEDY.7Otto Faulkenburg Shoots to Death Henry Knight.Otto Faulkenburg shot and in-stantly killed Henry Knight, at St. Croix, Wednesday evening of last week. Both men had attended a turkey shooting and adispute arose between them as to*the size of shot used by a boy contestant. Faulkenbui'g claimed the boy had used larger shot than had been permitted. King called him a liar and was immediately shot through the heart. During the excitement Faulken-buiu “Yjasnot yet been apprehended. It was a cold-blooded, brutal murder. Governor Hanly, we are Informed, will be prevailed upon to offer a reward for the capture of Faulkenburg. He has been a desperate character all of his life. When Governor Claude Matthews threw out his drag net over Perry and Crawford counties in his fight to exterminate the White Cappers’ organization, Faulkenburg, with others, was caught in the meshes, and served a term in the penitentiary. Matthews exterminated the White Cappers and filled the penitentiary with members of the organization and removed a stigma from the good name of our State. Sheriff Wittmer, who was sick abed at the time of the tragedy deputized City Marshal Ed Hawkins of Tell City to go out and capture the desperado. Hawkins knows.the country well but could find qo trace of Faulken--burg, mid -so reported to the sheriff. King was buried at St. Croix Sunday. He was 35 years eld and unmarried. Faulkenburg is 52 years of age. It is the general opinion that he is in hiding in some of the hill recesses of the county and will eventually be captured.Knight the murdered man was also a man killer, having shot to death Sam Lampkics, near St. Croix, abeuifi 3 years.ago.
