When Governor Claude Matthews threw out his drag net over Perry and Crawford counties in his fight to exterminate the White Cappers’ organization, Faulkenburg, with others, was caught m the meshes, and served a term in the penitentiary. Matthews exterminated the White Cappers and filled the penitentiary with members of the organization and removed a stigma from the good name of our State. Sheriff Wittmer, who was sick abed at the time of the tragedy deputized City Marshal Ed Hawkins of TeJl City to go out and capture the desperado. Hawkins know s.the country well but could find qo trace of Faulken-burg, mid -so reported to the sheriff. King was buried at St. Croix Sunday. He was 35 years add and unmarried. Faulkenburg is 52 years of age. It is the general opinion that he is in hiding in some of the hill recesses of the county and will eventually be captured.Knight the murdered man was also a man killer, having shot to death Sam Lampkins, near St. Croix, ab©u»fi 3 year s.ago.
